when it rains

the window screens streaks

the birds stop chirping

and everything cover seeks.

the sky turns grey

the clouds turn dark blue,

everything becomes quiet

and then you hear a boom.

then the rain comes down

in bursts and sprays

leaves dance about

and the trees do sway.

thunder crashes 

raindrops pelt the earth

the dirt drinks the water in

and the earth experiences rebirth.

the rain wanes

clouds move on their way

the sun comes out

and it looks like a new day.

steam rises from the pavement

the earth breaths a sigh

we all smile at the rainbow

that shines in the sky.
