"It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
So, yeah. I got to photograph Anna Morris, Kristen's sister-in-law, while at the Storytime Workshop a few weeks ago. Yep. Kristen Morris's sister-in-law. Caleb's sister. I'm still having I-can't-believed-that-actually-happened moments. It was special. (Almost like meeting a celebrity... but more on that in the next post!)
There are some people you meet and you know right away that you're gonna be friends.
I met Anna when I first got to Kristen's house the day before the Storytime Workshop was to begin. I was sitting in the kitchen at the bar when this blond haired, smiling, short-like-me girl came through the door singing "Bless the Lord, Oh my soul. Oh my soul worship His holy name." I started singing with her, and we sang the rest of the song together. Then we said "Hi!", hugged and started talking like we'd known each other since we were little kids. I knew then that we were gonna be friends.
She loves to laugh. Just like me.
She laughs a little louder than she expects. Then covers her mouth. Just like me.
She crinkles her nose when she giggles. Just like me.
She loves her family. Just like me.
She is figuring out this whole college-and-what-do-I-want-to-do-with-my-life thing. Just like me.
[when faced with both options]
She eats a meat-loaded pizza instead of salad... I split it with her.
She loves the Lord. Just like me.
We started being friends. We talked. We shared. We laughed, a lot. But it was the sharing that mattered. Stories, lessons and pains... they're all part of who we are and who we will become. Anna is a laughing, serious, caring, mature, spunky, carefree, thoughtful young woman. And I'm sure she'll grow up to be one heck of a hilarious old woman :)
Anna, don't be surprised if I show up in Oklahoma one day. I'll be calling you from somewhere to come and get me. Maybe I'll be at Hoboken Coffee Roasters... didn't you tell me how good that place is? Yep. I just made up my mind... that's where I'll be. You come and get me and we'll go bike riding, field frolicking, coffee drinking, volleyball playing, Froyo eating, and loud singing... ok?!
I miss you girl! Stay in touch, and enjoy seeing your beautiful face :)
